Woodware Challenge – Graduation

This week we are looking at Graduation as exams are in full swing in Universities around the country and schools around the country are gearing for that time of year that is hard on teenagers but even harder on parents!

cardI have done a tag card that is the Sketch this week over on Paper Craft Planet – Sketch. It is a very easy card to create and I can think it would work really well for a gift card too.

Folds

I took an A4 card and cut it in half long ways. I then scored it in half and then turned the card over and scored it at the line for A5 in half, so that side has been scored to add a stand.

slitThe cut a line across the front, so the tag slides in.

tapeI used double sided tape to join the front to the back just in the bottom section.

tag

I have just cut the tag to fit the slit without measuring, I punched a whole at the top and threaded ribbon through. The stamps are from the Damask Chair Perfectly Clear set. The words were from the Lets Celebrate Clear Magic set. All the stamping as done with the Wicked Black Dye Ink.

hat

For the graduation cap I folded a 10cm x 10cm (4 inch square) of black paper.

First fold the paper in half open out and fold in half again in the opposite direction. Then fold the corners into the centre, repeat by folding the corners in again. This gives a puffy effect to the square. I just used some gold thread to make the tassel.

Thank you for visiting us today, why not play along with us this week?

  1. Oooh you must be a mind reader! I have to make my first two graduation cards in the next couple of weeks for my daughter and her boyfriend! I’ll be keeping a close eye on all the ideas this week. This is a great start, love the folded hat!

  2. A super idea Dorothy. I have never made a graduation card before so it will be nice to see what other creative ideas the team come up with this week.
